Interlibrary Loan

If an item you are seeking is not available at York County Library in our SCLENDS partnership, then an interlibrary loan (ILL) request can be made through libraries across the United States. Requests can be made by filling out the ILL Request Form or by contacting any of our library locations.

Before making a request, please review the basic guidelines below or see the complete Interlibrary Loan Policy.

Policy Overview

  • York County Library cardholders 18 and older can request an interlibrary loan, limited to five total requests at a time. Those whose borrowing privileges are blocked or who hold teacher cards are not eligible.

  • ILL requests are accepted for fiction, nonfiction, audiovisual, and microfilm materials, excluding reference materials and items with copyright dates less than six months old.

  • Item availability, wait times, due dates, and fees are dependent on the lending location.

  • ILL items can be picked up at any York County Library branch but must be returned inside the library, not in a book drop.

If you have questions about a request or need to renew an item, please use the contact information below. Staff will respond within 3 business days.
