T-Mobile Hotspots

  • T-Mobile hotspots are available to check out at all York County Library locations and the Bookmobile.

  • Hotspots connect to available T-Mobile towers and cover York County very well, with the exception of the far west side (Hickory Grove, Hopewell, Sharon, etc.).

  • Up to 10 devices can be connected to the hotspot.

  • Each hotspot comes inside a plastic utility case with one power adaptor, one USB cable, guidelines, and instructions.

  • Hotspots are filtered and will block websites that feature frequent or intense graphic violence, sexual content, profanity, and cash gambling.

  • Hotspots are not recommended for applications such as high-bandwidth media streaming or online gaming.

Connecting Your Wi-Fi Device to the Mobile Hotspot

  • To turn on the hotspot, press and hold only the power button until the display on the front of the device illuminates. Then, immediately release the button and wait one minute for the hotspot to initialize.

  • Each hotspot is assigned a unique network name (SSID). On your Wi-Fi-enabled device, search for available Wi-Fi networks and select the assigned SSID. Enter the password and click OK.

  • Note: The Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password are displayed on the device and are also located on the label on the back cover.

Loan Policy

  • Hotspots may be checked out by any York County resident 18 years old or older with a YCL library card. Patrons must be in good standing with the library and have no fines above $10.00 on their account.

  • Hotspots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and may be checked out for two weeks. Checkout is limited to one device per address.

  • Hotspots may be placed on hold. Holds expire after 7 days.

  • Patrons are required to sign a Hotspot Usage Agreement at checkout. If any requirements are not honored during checkout and/or on return of the Hotspot, the user may be ineligible to check out another Hotspot from any branch of the York County Library for a minimum of two weeks.

  • Hotspots, including all accessories and packaging, must be returned to the service desk inside the branch where they were checked out. They may not be placed in a book drop.

  • For full usage guidelines, review the Computer and Internet Use Policy.

Fines and Liability

  • Hotspots will be deactivated within 24 hours of the due date, after which a fine of $5.00 per day will be charged for late returns, up to a maximum accrual of $25.00.
