What are Book Club Kits?
Finding books for your next book club meeting just got a lot easier! Check out a Book Club Kit from the York County Library, and you’re on your way to a great meeting. Book Club Kits contain 10 copies of the book and a discussion guide with questions and an author biography. With over 200 titles in circulation, you’re sure to find some great reads.
How can I search for a kit?
You can print out a complete list of kits sorted by author or title and then search the catalog for a specific kit. Please call the York County Library Reference Department at (803) 981-5825 and speak to a staff member if you are in need of further assistance.
How do I check out a kit?
The kits are housed at the Main Library in Rock Hill. If you’re at the Main Library and see that a kit you’re interested in has an "available" status, a staff member will be happy to retrieve it for you. You may also submit a request through the online request form. Please include 2 choices. Since kits cannot be placed on hold, the choices vary by the minute. It is possible that when we go to retrieve your first choice, that kit will be checked out. If that is the case, we will fill your request with your second choice. Once the request is made, a staff member will check the kit’s availability and will be in contact with you to confirm the request. Holds cannot be placed on book club kits through the library catalog.
What are the rules for checking out a kit?
Patrons with a current York County Library card may choose to have their kits delivered to a YCL branch of their choice. Non-YCL cardholders may check out the kits; however, they must visit the Rock Hill Main Library to request and pick up a kit. Kits check out for eight weeks with no renewals. Before returning the kit, be sure to check the box for all 10 books and one discussion guide folder. The person who checks the kit out will be responsible for any damaged or missing items. Since holds cannot be placed on kits, patrons do have the option of checking out 2 kits at one time.

*This email will be checked once per weekday. Kits to be delivered to library branches are subject to the weekday library courier schedule. Every effort will be made to fill each kit request quickly, but there may be delays due to circumstances beyond our control.
