Digital Services Updates
Even though we have had to close our doors due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are still working to provide you with the best service possible. We have many digital services available to you on our All Resources, Homework Help, Online Learning, Self-Publishing, and Virtual Library pages. We are continuing to make updates to the services and more, to better serve you.
Dial-A-Story - As of October 1, 2020, patrons can call the Library’s Dial-A-Story phone line at 803-620-8585. You'll hear stories for adults, teens, and children, as well as music and songs, poetry, jokes and riddles, history tidbits, trivia, and more! You can also listen and download online at our Dial-A-Story page.
OverDrive and RBdigital - RBdigital eBooks and audiobooks are now available via OverDrive in the Libby app. Any items currently checked out will be available through the end of the loan period. No holds will be able to be transferred.
TeenBookCloud features graphic novels, enhanced novels, eBooks, classic literature, National Geographic videos, educator resources, and audiobooks for grades 7-12.
Tutor.com offers live tutoring for K-12 students with Live Homework Help, WriteTutor Center, Test Prep Center, SkillsCenter, and Resource Library. Connect with a live tutor from 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., seven days per week.
TumbleMath features the most comprehensive collection of math stories available anywhere in the TumbleBook format, complete with animation and narration.
Mobile Printing - Patrons can send documents and photos to print at library printers using a laptop, tablet, smartphone, or other internet-connected device. Costs are 15¢ per black and white page and 25¢ per color page, with 24 hours to pick up print jobs. For more information and instructions, see Mobile Printing.
Kanopy - Kanopy offers streaming of more than 30,000 documentaries; foreign, classic, and independent films; and educational videos from thousands of producers, including the Criterion Collection, PBS, Great Courses, Kino Lorber, and more. A valid library card and email are required. Content can be viewed on your TV, desktop, and mobile devices. Monthly borrows are limited to 5 credits.
York County Library eCard - Would you like to use our digital services, but don't have a library card? We now have a solution for you. Introducing the York County Library eCard! YCL eCards are temporary library card numbers that are available to York County, SC residents only. An email address is required to be issued an eCard. Applications will be processed within 24 hours of receipt, Monday through Friday. To get a physical YCL card, eCard holders may call their local YCL branch during curbside pickup hours.
SC Codes - SC Codes is a learning platform and coding community, connecting South Carolinians to free education and resources to unlock careers in technology, while also training and empowering programmers across our state. Join SC Codes on YouTube for live insights and Q&A during "Mentor Mondays" each Monday at 7 p.m. EST.
Freegal Music - Freegal Music has added unlimited 24-hour streaming with your York County Library Card, giving you 'round-the-clock access to over 15 million songs from over 40,000 music labels.
Hoopla account restrictions lifted - We have configured Hoopla to allow all YCL cardholders access, regardless if the account is expired or has fines.
Ancestry Library available from home - We have configured Ancestry Library Edition so you can use it from the comfort of your home. Please note, a YCL card is required to access this service.
Creativebug account restrictions lifted - We have configured Creativebug to allow all YCL cardholders access, regardless if the account is expired or has fines.
RBdigital ends Pongalo service - Pongalo has ended its streaming service, effective August 31, 2020. As a result, RBdigital has disabled checkout service to Pongalo as of August 21, 2020. Any checkouts on our prior to August 21 will have full seven-day access to the service.
