When will the library reopen?
For the safety of our patrons and staff, all York County Library locations will be closed until further notice. We are working on a phased reopening plan. Phase 2 (Curbside Pickup) begins Monday, June 8. All YCL locations will remain closed to the public during this phase. Outside book drops will remain open for the return of Library materials (books, audiobooks, DVDs, and HotSpots) and will be properly quarantined before checking in.
Can I still use the library from home?
Yes! Our Virtual Library is available 24/7 to all YCL cardholders, and offers a variety of streaming and downloadable content including ebooks, audiobooks, television, and movies.
How do I access the Virtual Library if I don't have a library card?
We are now offering the YCL eCard! Simply fill out our online library card application and a staff member will contact you with your new YCL eCard number. Please make sure to include both your email and phone number.
What do I do if you my library card is about to expire?
Send us a message on our Contact Us page and we can renew your library card for you. Please be sure to include your full library card number as well as your current address and phone number.
Can I return items that I have checked out?
Yes, outside book drops are open for the return of Library materials (books, audiobooks, DVDs, and HotSpots) and will be properly quarantined before checking in. No overdue fees will be charged for items returned during this time. Please hold all Book Club Kits and Kinder Kits until further notice.
Will there be any fines and fees charged for the items I have checked out?
No fines will be charged for items due during this closing.
Can I drop off donations to the library?
No, the library is unable to accept donations during the closure. Please do not leave any donations outside the library. Donations left during the closure will be discarded as a safety precaution.
Will there be any programs or events while the library is closed?
Yes, be sure to check out all of our free online events taking place all summer long. You can also join your YCL librarians from the safety of your home with our online virtual programs! Enjoy virtual storytimes for children, tutorials and instructional videos for adults, and fun games for teens.
