YCL is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month with Fine Amnesty! Thanks to the Library Board of Trustees, York County Library cardholders can have up to $5 of fines waived by visiting their local YCL branch in September. Fine Amnesty does not count towards lost or damaged materials.

Additionally throughout the month, new YCL cardholders will receive special incentives and packets of resourceful library information. Library cards are free to York County residents, property owners, and workers.

Under the umbrella of Administration, the Library’s Human Resources Department oversees all employee recruitment and selection, with the goal of attracting the most highly-qualified, talented workforce possible.

 

The department serves as organizational team facilitator in areas of organizational change, employee empowerment, leadership development, and performance enhancement. Human Resources also holds responsibility for administering employee compensation and benefits, facilitating labor relations, offering training, and providing a safe, productive work site.

New Policy Expands Mobile HotSpot Services

YCL has expanded our services for Mobile HotSpots to meet increased demand. We now allow HotSpots to be placed on hold; holds will expire after seven days. HotSpots can be checked out for two weeks, with no renewals, by any York County resident 18 years old or older with a YCL Library card. Patrons must be in good standing with the Library and have no fines above $10.00 on their account. HotSpots may not be checked out again by the cardholder returning the device for a 24-hour period. Come celebrate National Bookmobile Day with our New Bookmobile!

Just in time for National Bookmobile Day, the new York County Library Bookmobile has arrived! You may have already seen it in the Come-See-Me Parade. But now, you can be one of the first to get an up close look by joining us for the ribbon-cutting and open house at the Main Library in Rock Hill, April 10 at 3:00 pm. On April 11, a tour of all YCL branches will follow. If you are unable to join us on either of these dates, the Bookmobile schedule will let you know where you can find the new Bookmobile out in our community.

 

Bookmobile staff can’t wait to get back on the road in their new vehicle! We’d like to thank the South Carolina State Library and the York County Council for their support, along with Mr. Will Hillenbrand for the use of his artwork.

Donate Food to Pay Off Overdue Fines!

Food for Fines • December 1–31 Supports Local Food Banks

All York County Libraries will collect Food for Fines for library users to pay off fines with nonperishable food and personal hygiene items. Each donated item earns $1 credit for overdue fines. (some exceptions apply).

No fines? Donate clothing for area shelters with our Mitten Trees or a new, unwrapped toy for WRHI's Toys for Happiness campaign! During December, drop off new gloves, hats, scarves, and mittens for children and adults for "Mitten Trees" at all Library locations, or "Toys for Happiness" in our Rock Hill Main Library collection box.

National Novel Writing Month

'Come Write In' this November!

National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, runs midnight, Nov. 1, through 11:59 p.m., Nov. 30, and challenges writers to compose a brand new 50,000-word novel in just 30 days.

Limited Federal Tax Forms Available

YCL will provide only the new Federal 1040 Forms and Instructions. State publications may be accessed via dor.sc.gov (1-844-898-8542, option 1) for S.C or ncdor.gov (1-877-252-3052) for N.C. A Tax Help Flyer is available for help locating tax forms and sites that assist individuals with tax preparation, and YCL will host sessions for assistance, with available dates listed on the Events Calendar.

 

Government shutdown may impact availability of services. Library staff cannot answer tax-related questions, other than availability of forms.
