Dig Into Reading
Our Dig Into Reading promotional video was created by the talented students of Mr. Charles Walker's broadcast journalism class from Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill. Thanks, and great job, guys!
Tiny Tots: Newborns & Toddlers under Age 3
This program is specially designed for children up to age 35 months and their parents. Register online or pick up an activity sheet at any York County Library or the bookmobile. Track your progress using your account or activity sheet and log all activities or return the completed sheet by August 2 to receive a board book, certificate, and bath toy. You'll also get one entry in the Grand Prize Drawing, where one randomly-selected winner from each library will receive a choice of either a $50 iTunes or Books-A-Million gift card, snack container, sand pail, and sponsor coupons.
Dig Into Reading: Children Ages 3-12
Children ages 3-12 can register online for summer reading or by visiting any York County Library branch or the bookmobile. Pick up a reading record and mark a circle for every 12 minutes you read or listen to an audiobook, for a required total of 10 hours. You may also track your progress online. Log all hours or return the completed record by August 2 to receive:
- A summer reading medal, certificate, and rainbow beach ball
- Coupons from sponsors, while supplies last
- An entry in the Grand Prize Drawing: one randomly-selected winner from each library receives a choice of either a $50 iTunes or Books-A-Million gift card, Dig into Reading water bottle, sports bag, and additional sponsor coupons. Receive an extra entry in the contest each time the 10-hour reading requirement is completed.
Enter again and again for additional prizes! And be sure to visit the library often and attend FREE weekly programs in June and July. Seating is limited, so come early! For a complete list of all summer events, pick up a Kids Calendar at any York County Library location or see the Events Page.
Beneath the Surface: Rising 6th-12th Graders
Rising 6th-12th graders can register online for summer reading or pick up a reading record at any York County Library branch or the Bookmobile. Record 15 hours of reading or track your progress online and log all hours or turn in your completed reading record by August 2 to receive a cinch bag and enter cool prize drawings. Enter again to increase your odds! You’re also invited to our free, fun events! Some events require registration; see the Events Page or Teen Calendar for more information.
Groundbreaking Reads: Adults Ages 18 & Up
