Have Dessert with Roland Mesnier
The former White House executive pastry chef Roland Mesnier will speak in Rock Hill on Sunday, November 13 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the City Club of Rock Hill, 140 E. Main Street. The event is sponsored by the York County Library and costs $15 per person by November 11 or $20 at the door the day of the program. A dessert reception will feature ten desserts made from his recipes.
Roland Mesnier will share his anecdotes about the famous people that he met and cooked for in his 25 years working with Presidential families from the Carters to the Bushes. Known for his annual tradition of creating elaborate and beautiful gingerbread houses for the White House, Mesnier now lives in Virginia with his wife, Martha.
His book “Dessert University,” will be for sale and may be autographed. In addition to more than 300 recipes, the book includes baking tips, techniques and details about the ingredients he uses and why he chooses them. He also covers equipment he considers essential in the kitchen. Lessons on how to work with chocolate, including making decorations out of chocolate, are also featured.
