SC State Library Holds Summer Reading Club for Children and Teens with Special Needs

Columbia, SC - The South Carolina State Library Talking Book Services is once again sponsoring a Summer Vacation Reading Program for children and teens with special needs.

Talking book, large print and Braille readers ages pre-school through 12 years and teens ages 13 and up are invited to join in on the mystery-themed reading program. Pre-schoolers are encouraged to bring “Read-to-Me-Buddies” such as moms, dads, siblings or friends.

All summer readers are invited to the library’s “Get a Clue Awards Party” July 27 at 11 a.m., where they can enjoy storytelling, join in sing-alongs, enter a prize drawing and get a special gift. Children who can’t attend will still be recognized for their reading efforts with certificates and a special reading souvenir that will be mailed to them.

Registration ends May 31. For more information, call 803-734-4611 or 800-922-7818, or email tbsbooks@statelibrary.sc.gov.
