Friends of the Library Honor Volunteers
The Friends of the York County Library announced their Volunteers of the Year at a volunteer appreciation luncheon held on September 23 at Chandler Place.
Virginia Anderson and Jinilyn Anderson were honored with the Joann Woods McMaster Volunteer Award for 2005 for volunteering more than 200 hours with the Friends of the Library book sales. Joann W. McMaster was recognized for her efforts in founding the Friends of the York County Library and serving as the organization’s first president in 1975.
Friends of the Library president Marianne O’Neill announced that the Friends would donate $2,500 of the proceeds from their October book sale to the American Library Association’s efforts to rebuild Gulf Coast area libraries damaged or destroyed by recent hurricanes.
The Friends of the York County Library sponsors the annual vacation reading program available at all York County Libraries for area children, in addition to other library projects. For more information about the Friends of the Library call 803-981-5837.
