How to Get Started with Audiobooks


Begin by going to York County Library's NetLibrary Audiobook Page. Next, choose a topic below to help you get started.


Searching for an Audiobook

  1. Enter a search term in the Basic Search field.
  2. Select keyword, title, or author.
  3. Click search.

Creating an Audiobooks Account

To download and listen to audiobooks you must first create a free Netlibrary account.

  1. Click on the Create a free account link.
  2. Enter the required information and click submit.

Logging In to Audiobooks

Once you have created an account, you can log in to York County Library's collection from any computer with Internet access.

  1. Sign in to your account using the log in box.
  2. You now have access to all audiobooks available in York County Library's collection.

Checking out an Audiobook

The default checkout period is three weeks. You may check out a maximum of 10 audiobook titles in a 3-week period. Please DO NOT download audiobooks to public computers in the library!

  1. From your audiobook search results, click on Download this Audiobook link to open or save the audiobook file.
  2. Select a download option: CD quality (higher quality, ideal for high-speed Internet) or radio quality (ideal for dial-up).
  3. If you select Open, Netlibrary will download the title and launch your media player. Click the play button on your media player to listen to the audiobook. The Save option allows you to download the file to a directory on your computer. Once the download is complete, open it by clicking on it.

Renewing an Audiobook

Once an audiobook has been downloaded, it can be renewed at any time.

  1. Sign in to your account using the log in box.
  2. Click on the My checked out Items link.
  3. Click on Renew this Audiobook.
